Terms & Conditions
Last updated: February 2026
These terms and conditions govern your use of the B4 English website (b4english.com) and the English language tuition services provided by Michelle Barratt, trading as B4 English (“we”, “us”, “our”). By booking a lesson or using our services, you agree to these terms.
1. Services
B4 English provides private online English language tuition for adults and children aged 10 and above. Lessons are delivered via Zoom, VooV, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams. Available courses include everyday English conversation, IELTS exam preparation, business English, interview preparation, reading and comprehension, and bespoke courses tailored to individual needs.
2. Trial Lessons
A 30-minute trial lesson is available for adults and children aged 10 and above. The current trial lesson fee is displayed on our website and is subject to change. The trial lesson fee is refundable in full if the student goes on to book and pay for 10 lessons within 7 days of the trial lesson date.
3. Booking and Payment
When you book lessons, provisional dates and times are added to the diary. Please note that dates are not guaranteed until payment is received in full. Once payment has been received, your booking status is changed to confirmed and you will receive an email with your confirmed lesson schedule.
All prices are quoted in British pounds sterling (£GBP). Payment may be made by direct bank transfer, Stripe (which includes Alipay), or PayPal. Payment links or QR codes are available on request.
Lesson prices vary depending on the course type and booking quantity. Current prices are displayed on our website. We reserve the right to update our pricing at any time, although any lessons already paid for will be honoured at the original price.
4. Lesson Duration
Standard lessons are 40 minutes in duration. IELTS mock exam lessons require 90 minutes (charged as two lessons). Trial lessons are 30 minutes. If a different duration is required, please discuss this with us in advance.
5. Cancellation and Rescheduling
We understand that from time to time either the student or the tutor may need to reschedule a lesson. We ask that you give as much notice as possible — 24 hours’ notice is preferred, although we recognise that emergencies happen and short-notice cancellations are sometimes unavoidable.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please send an email to michelle@b4english.com before the scheduled start time of the lesson. If you have paid for a lesson but need to postpone, we will reschedule it at a mutually convenient time — you do not lose your money.
B4 English reserves the right to reschedule lessons due to tutor illness or other unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, the student will be offered an alternative date at no additional cost.
6. No-Show Policy
If you do not attend a scheduled lesson and have not sent prior notice by email before the start time, full payment will be taken for that lesson and it will be treated as a no-show. We allow reasonable flexibility for genuine emergencies, assessed on a case-by-case basis.
7. Lesson Notes and Feedback
Written notes and feedback will be provided after each lesson. These are supplied for the student’s personal use and may not be reproduced, shared, or distributed without permission.
8. Lessons for Children
B4 English offers lessons for children aged 10 to 16 years. A parent or guardian must provide consent and agree to these terms on behalf of the child. We recommend that a parent or guardian is available during lessons for children under 13, though this is not mandatory.
9. Intellectual Property
All teaching materials, lesson plans, workbooks, and resources provided by B4 English remain the intellectual property of B4 English. Students may use materials for their own personal learning but may not reproduce, distribute, or sell them without express written permission.
10. Data Protection
We collect and process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By using our services, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in that policy. We will never sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
11. Communications
By submitting your details through our website, you consent to receiving email communications from B4 English relating to your enquiry, lessons, and related services. You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link provided in each email. Transactional emails (such as lesson confirmations and invoices) will continue to be sent as necessary.
12. Prize Draws and Promotions
From time to time, B4 English may run prize draws or promotional offers. Specific terms for each promotion will be displayed on the relevant page. Winners will be selected at random and notified by email. Prizes are non-transferable and no cash alternative is offered. B4 English reserves the right to withdraw or amend any promotion at any time.
13. Limitation of Liability
B4 English provides English language tuition to the best of our professional ability. However, we cannot guarantee specific outcomes such as exam results, interview success, or fluency levels. Our liability is limited to the fees paid for the specific lessons in question. We are not liable for any technical issues with third-party platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.) that may affect lesson delivery.
14. Governing Law
These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
15. Changes to These Terms
B4 English reserves the right to update these terms and conditions at any time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of our services after changes have been published constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
